"My mom is going to be really, really mad!" I hear this comment often when a student finds himself covered in paint, pastels or whatever medium we happen to be working with at the time.
Please be aware that art is messy and students often end up with paint, pastels, etc. on their clothes. I do have a class set of smocks for students to wear and I always encourage students to wear them. I also always remind kids to push up sleeves and/or remove sweaters or jackets before we begin working with messy materials. Usually when a student ends up covered in paint, it is because he or she chose not to wear a smock. However, even when they have a smock on, some kids occasionally end up with paint on them. While most stains should wash out, my suggestion is to make sure that your child dresses appropriately for art days.
